Earthquake in Nepal

The Fund for Hunger is currently looking into ways how we may best help the earthquake-stricken populations of Nepal.

We have been in contact since day one with emergency aid workers from Italy who are on location, and we are exploring other avenues through our scientific contacts in Nepal. We are striving to use direct routes, through people we know and can rely on.

We are also in contact with two orphanages in the Kathmandu valley that have luckily not suffered too much damage and are still operational.

IF YOU WISH TO HELP US:

  • The Fund for Hunger will be operating a stall to raise funds at the forthcoming Trieste MiniMaker Faire on ICTP's Campus on 9 and 10 May.
  • If you are staff wishing to make a contribution, please contact the Personnel office
  • If you wish to make a contribution directly, you can do so at the UniCredit bank at the ICTP Fermi Building, or by bank transfer to the Fund for Hunger's account (IBAN: IT 75 L 02008 02213 000102658620, BIC/SWIFT: UNCRITM10ND).

MiniMakerFaire 2015

The Fund for Hunger will once again be present at this year's Trieste Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, 9 and Sunday, 10 May.

Last year's Faire was a great success for the Fund for Hunger, allowing us to collect some 700 Euros in just one day of Faire. This year's Faire will last two days, and we are now keen to see if we can do better this year.

If you haven't got a copy of NON-NUMERICAL RECIPES yet, you can purchase one at the InfoPoint at the Leonardo Building. We need your help!

  1. We will be selling ICTP's recipe book Non-numerical recipes, second edition. If any of you would like to take a recipe from the book* and prepare a dish to be sold on these days, with contributions going to the Fund for Hunger, please let Anne Gatti know by Friday, 24 April.
  2. Please also let her know if you can be present on Saturday or Sunday to help in manning the stand.
  3. We would also like to organize a raffle. If anyone has a knick knack to donate to the raffle, please let Anne know. Objects can be delivered to Anne in office no. 272 of the Leonardo Building (any time) or to Paolo Vespa, Room 110 in the Fermi Building during the period 27-30 April, afternoons only.

We look forward to your collaboration and support as usual.

Collection box

27.08.2014 – Over the past few days, we have repeatedly found 1- and 2-cent coins on one of the tables in front of the coffee machines at the Enrico Fermi Building, likely because the coffee machines don't take them. We liked the idea, and so now there is a collection box for more coins to come.

The initiative seems to have gone down well, so much so that just a few hours later there were EUR 2.44 in the box!

We should like to thank those who had the great idea in the first place and, above all, the anonymous donors, hoping that the idea will catch on and turn into a veritable trend leading to more and more people 'emptying their pockets' into the FUND FOR HUNGER's collection box!

Here's what the box looks like:
